Bread

  • 1 loaf crusty Italian bread or French baguette (12-14 inches long or medium ciabatta)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 4-5 cloves garlic (minced very finely or 1½ teaspoons jarred minced garlic)
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning)
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for subtle heat)
  • 2 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan cheese (optional, adds savory umami layer)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Mix softened butter, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and parsley or Italian seasoning until well combined.
  • Slice the bread horizontally in half and spread the garlic butter evenly on both cut sides.
  • Bake on a baking sheet for 8-10 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from oven, sprinkle Parmesan and parsley if desired, then slice into 2-inch pieces and serve immediately.

Notes
