  • 2 medium apples (red delicious or Gala), peeled and shredded
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1.5 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon imitation maple flavoring

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place shredded apples in a 9x9-inch baking pan.
  • Mix sugar, butter, flour, milk, baking powder, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Pour over apples.
  • Combine brown sugar, water, melted butter, and maple flavoring to make syrup. Pour over the batter.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes until bubbly and set.
