Ingredients

Pie Crust

  • 1 unit unbaked 9 inch pie crust

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.75 cup hot water
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch dish.
  • Mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt; set aside half for topping.
  • Whisk molasses, baking soda, hot water, and egg until smooth; layer crumb mixture in crust, pour molasses mixture over, then top with remaining crumbs.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set. Cool for 2 hours before slicing.
