Delight in these soft, cinnamon-spiced cookies with a rich apple butter glaze, perfect for cozy gatherings or a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 12 Tbsp. unsalted butter, cold, cubed
  • 1 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/3 cup apple butter (store-bought)
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. apple butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • pinch salt
  • splash milk to thin out glaze

Instructions 

  • Mix dry ingredients; set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar, add apple butter, egg yolk, vanilla; combine.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients; chill dough for 30-60 minutes.
  • Form dough balls, coat in cinnamon sugar, and bake at 350°F for 10-11 minutes.
  • Make glaze with melted butter, powdered sugar, apple butter, vanilla, and milk; drizzle over cooled cookies.

Notes

Chill the dough well for best results and enjoy the rich cinnamon-apple flavor.
