Ingredients

Bananas

  • 2 pieces ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup shredded phyllo dough (kataifi), finely torn
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions 

  • Whisk milk, sugar, and cornstarch in a saucepan until smooth, then cook until thickened.
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let cool slightly.
  • Layer banana slices in serving cups, pour custard over, and smooth the top.
  • Melt butter and toast shredded phyllo until golden, then cool slightly.
  • Sprinkle toasted phyllo over the custard and chill for at least 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drizzle of honey before serving.
