A flavorful and hearty dish combining tender beef, fragrant rice, and fresh vegetables, perfect for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 5 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1 inch ginger root peeled
  • 1 pound beef about half kg cut into 1-inch slices
  • 0.25 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon corn or vegetable oil for browning beef
  • 0.25 cup corn or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups raw basmati rice
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 4 cups water (1 liter)
  • 2 seasoning cubes Maggi or beef bouillon cubes (substitute with two beef bouillon cubes)
  • 1 large carrot diced

Instructions 

  • Blend garlic and ginger into a paste, then season the beef with 1 teaspoon of the paste, white pepper, and salt. Brown the beef in hot oil, then set aside.
  • Heat remaining oil, sauté onions for 2 minutes, then add washed rice and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add curry powder and remaining garlic-ginger paste, stir well.
  • Add water, salt, seasoning cubes, and browned beef to the rice mixture. Cover with foil and lid, then cook on low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Open the lid, add diced carrots and green beans, then cover and cook for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice and serve warm.

Notes

Ensure rice is well washed to prevent clumping and for even cooking.
