Rich, fudgy brownies with a deep nutty flavor from browned butter, perfect for chocolate lovers.
Ingredients
Dough
3/4
cup
unsalted butter
3/4
cup
Dutch-process cocoa powder
1
teaspoon
vanilla extract
1 3/4
cup
packed light brown sugar
3
large
eggs
3/4
cup
all-purpose flour
1/2
teaspoon
salt
1/2
cup
semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate) (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper.
Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat until golden and fragrant, about 10-15 minutes.
Whisk cocoa powder and vanilla into the browned butter until smooth. Beat eggs and brown sugar until fluffy, then fold in the butter mixture.
Gently fold in flour, salt, and chocolate chips until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 25 minutes, testing for doneness with a toothpick; edges should be set but center slightly gooey.
Notes
For extra richness, add more chocolate chips or a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
