A deliciously fragrant braided bread infused with herbs and butter, perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
Dough
3.75cupsall-purpose flour(measured then sifted)
0.75cupwater
0.33cupmilk
2Tbspbutter(cubed)
2tspsalt
2tspactive dry yeast
1.5Tbspsugar
1large eggegg
6Tbspbutter(room temp)
2Tbspfavorite herbs(chopped finely)
0.5tspgarlic powder
Instructions
Sift flour into a large bowl, create a well in the center.
Heat water, milk, and 2 Tbsp butter until very warm; pour into flour. Add salt, yeast, and sugar; let foam for 3-5 mins. Whisk egg, add to mixture, then knead until smooth.
Let dough rise in a greased bowl covered for 1 hour until doubled. Divide into three, roll into 3x12 strips, spread butter, sprinkle herbs, and roll tightly. Braid strands, pinch ends.
Brush braid with butter, cover loosely, and let rise for 30-45 mins. Sprinkle garlic powder on top.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 mins until golden brown. Brush with remaining butter and cool before slicing.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle additional herbs on top before baking.
