A warm and fragrant apple crisp infused with chai spices, perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 10 cups apples (peeled and sliced) (about 10 medium-sized apples)
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon allspice
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 8 ounces unsalted butter (cubed) (at room temperature)

Topping

  • 1.5 cups old fashioned oats
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon allspice
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Toss sliced apples with lemon juice and 2 tbsp flour; place in baking dish.
  • Mix all topping ingredients, including butter, oats, sugars, spices, and flour until crumbly.
  • Spread topping evenly over the apples.
  • Bake for 45 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
