Ingredients

Dough

  • 500 grams AP Flour (for dough)
  • 6 Tbsp Unsalted Butter (divided, for dough and topping)
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar (for yeast activation)
  • 2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 Egg Egg (for dough)

Garlic & Herbs

  • 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Parsley (chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Oregano (chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Tbsp Kosher Salt

Cheese

  • 6 oz Solid, Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese (shredded)

Instructions 

  • Activate yeast by mixing it with warm water and a pinch of sugar; let sit until frothy.
  • Mix flour, salt, sugar, eggs, milk, and melted butter to form dough; knead until smooth.
  • Let dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Divide dough into rolls, stuff with cheese, and top with garlic, herbs, and butter mixture.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until golden and cheese is melted.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the rolls with garlic butter after baking.
