Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 large round sourdough or Italian bread loaf (approximately 1 pound, 8-9 inches diameter)

Butter

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)

Garlic

  • 4-6 cloves garlic, minced

Fresh Parsley

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

Italian Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Black Pepper

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground

Mozzarella Cheese

  • cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

Sharp Cheddar Cheese

  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Parmesan Cheese

  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Olive Oil

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)

Red Pepper Flakes

  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Green Onions

  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cut the bread loaf into a grid pattern without cutting all the way through.
  • Mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; spread between the cuts.
  • Stuff shredded cheeses into the cuts and drizzle with olive oil if using.
  • Bake for 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with green onions if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the bread with additional garlic butter before baking.
