This delicious pull-apart bread combines fresh basil pesto with gooey mozzarella and parmesan for a savory treat that's perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1.25 cups warm water (about 110 F)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup basil pesto (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 0.5 cup grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions 

  • Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  • Combine flour, salt, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes; add yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead until smooth, then let rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out dough and spread pesto evenly over it.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan over the pesto. Cut the dough into squares and stack or arrange in a loaf shape.
  • Brush the top with melted butter and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
