2.5cupsall-purpose flour
1.5cupsgranulated sugar
1tspbaking powder
0.5tspsalt
0.5cupmilk
1largeegg
0.5cupunsalted butter(cut into ½” pieces)
2Tbspcoarse sugar(such as demerara or sparkling sugar)
For serving
to tastevanilla ice cream

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare filling by combining water, sugars, cornstarch, flour, lemon juice, vanilla, and spices; cook until thickened. Toss apples with filling and transfer to baking dish.
Make biscuit topping by mixing flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, and egg; cut in butter until crumbly. Drop spoonfuls over apple filling.
Sprinkle coarse sugar and ground cinnamon on top. Bake for 40 minutes until golden and bubbly.
