Cranberry Cinnamon Rolls with orange Glaze

Delight in these freshly baked cinnamon rolls filled with tangy cranberry compote and topped with a bright orange glaze for a perfect breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup Whole Milk (warm)
  • 2 1/4 tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg Egg
  • 2 Egg Yolks Egg Yolks
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Salted Butter (melted)
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tbsp Orange Zest (about one orange)
  • 4 cups Bread Flour

Spices

  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher Salt

Cranberry Filling

  • 12 oz Fresh Cranberries
  • 2 tbsp Orange Zest
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Pomegranate or Cranberry Juice (or water)
  • 3 tbsp Butter

Orange Glaze

  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 3-4 tbsp Orange Juice (pulp free)
  • 4 tbsp Salted Butter (melted)
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest

Instructions 

  • Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy (5-10 min). Add eggs, sugar, melted butter, vanilla, orange zest, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt; knead 10 min.
  • Let dough rise in oiled bowl, covered, for 1.5 hours until doubled.
  • Cook cranberries, sugar, orange zest, lemon juice, and pomegranate juice; boil 3 min, simmer 15-20 min until thickened. Remove from heat, add butter, cool.
  • Roll out dough into 12x18 inch rectangle, spread cranberry filling, roll into log, cut into 1-inch slices, place in pan. Let rise 20-30 min.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 min. Mix powdered sugar, orange juice, melted butter, and orange zest for glaze.

Notes

Ensure cranberries are fully cooled before spreading to prevent sogginess.
