Dough
2cupsall-purpose flour
1/2teaspoonsalt
3/4teaspoonbaking powder
1/4teaspoonground cinnamon
2tablespoonsgranulated sugar
2sticksunsalted butter, cold, cubed(8 ounces)
1/2cupfull fat sour cream(cold)
Filling
3cupscranberries, fresh or frozen
1/2cuplight brown sugar, packed
1/3cupgranulated sugar
1teaspoonorange zest, finely grated
2tablespoonsfresh orange juice
2tablespoonsflour
2tablespoonsgrand mariner
1teaspoonvanilla extract
1largeegg, beaten
2tablespoonssparkling sugar, optional
Instructions
Prepare the dough by mixing flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly, then add sour cream and form into a dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine cranberries, brown sugar, granulated sugar, orange zest, orange juice, flour, mariner, and vanilla to make the filling.
Roll out the dough, cut into circles, and place a spoonful of filling on each. Fold and seal the edges.
Brush the pies with beaten egg and sprinkle with sparkling sugar if desired. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes until golden.
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
