This crispy coating mix is perfect for making flavorful fried chicken with a crunchy exterior and tender inside.

Ingredients

Dry Mix

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat) (optional)

Instructions 

  • Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
  • Prepare chicken by cleaning and drying; optionally marinate.
  • Dip chicken in wet marinade, then coat thoroughly with dry mix.
  • Let coated chicken rest a few minutes for better adhesion.
  • Heat oil to 170–180°C and fry chicken until golden and cooked through, about 8–15 minutes.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Ensure oil is hot enough before frying to achieve crispiness.
