A flavorful and crispy beef dish coated in a spicy, sweet, and savory sauce, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Beef

  • 500 g beef steak sirloin or flank, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 egg white egg white
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 red bell pepper red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch slurry (mixed with 2 tbsp water)
  • 1 spring onion sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Fresh red chili optional sliced red chili (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Slice beef into thin strips, toss with cornstarch, egg white, salt, and pepper; let sit 10 minutes.
  • Fry beef in hot oil until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch; drain on paper towels.
  • Stir-fry garlic and ginger in sesame oil, add bell peppers, then sauces, honey, sugar, chili flakes, and vinegar; simmer and thicken with slurry.
  • Add crispy beef to sauce, toss gently to coat, then garnish with sesame seeds, spring onions, and chili slices.

Notes

For extra crunch, fry the beef twice and let it rest between fryings.
