Ingredients

Bread

  • 2 slices whole-grain or sourdough bread

Avocado

  • 1 medium avocado, mashed

Cottage Cheese

  • ½ cup cottage cheese (full-fat recommended)

Lemon Juice

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Salt

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Black Pepper

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Garlic Powder

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Red Pepper Flakes

  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

Fresh Parsley or Chives

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame Seeds or Everything Bagel Seasoning

  • ½ teaspoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning (optional)

Instructions 

  • Toast the bread slices until golden brown.
  • In a bowl, mash the avocado and mix in lemon juice, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes if using.
  • Spread the mashed avocado evenly over the toasted bread slices.
  • Top with cottage cheese and garnish with chopped parsley or chives and sesame seeds or seasoning if desired.
