Soft, fluffy dinner rolls perfect for any meal, made from simple ingredients and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 1 package 1 4 ounce active dry yeast
  • 1.25 teaspoons salt
  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Instructions 

  • Mix sugar, yeast, salt, and 2 cups of flour in a large bowl.
  • Heat milk, water, and butter to 120-130°F, then add to dry ingredients and beat for 3 minutes.
  • Add 2 eggs and beat on high for 2 minutes, then stir in remaining flour to form a soft, sticky dough.
  • Knead dough on floured surface for 6-8 minutes, then let rise in a greased bowl until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down, divide into 24 balls, place in greased pans, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F, brush rolls with beaten egg, and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

For a softer crust, proof bread in a warm oven without turning it on.
