Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp Kosher or fine sea salt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted, and slightly cooled
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten, at room temperature
  • ¼ cup chai tea concentrate

For Cooking

Instructions 

  • Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • Mix melted butter into buttermilk, then add egg and chai concentrate.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients; let batter rest 10 minutes.
  • Heat a skillet, add butter, and cook ¼ cup batter until bubbles form, then flip and cook until golden.
  • Repeat with remaining batter; keep warm until serving.
