A delicious vegan flatbread topped with sweet caramelized onions, garlic, herbs, and vegan cheese, perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 210 g all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup warm water

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons vegan butter
  • 2 large sweet onions, sliced
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch sugar
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sage, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon non-dairy milk (optional)
  • ½ cup vegan mozzarella shreds
  • 2 tablespoons vegan parmesan
  • a handful arugula

Instructions 

  • Prepare the dough by mixing flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and water until smooth.
  • Roll out the dough into a flat circle and bake at 200°C (400°F) for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, caramelize sliced onions with vegan butter, garlic, sage, salt, and a pinch of sugar until golden.
  • Spread the caramelized onions over the baked dough, top with vegan cheese, and bake for another 10 minutes.
  • Finish with arugula and a drizzle of olive oil before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar to the caramelized onions.
