Ingredients

Fruits

  • 4 pieces ripe pears (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt

Instructions 

  • Combine sliced pears with ¼ cup brown sugar, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon nutmeg. Let sit for 15 minutes.
  • Mix oats, flour, remaining ¼ cup brown sugar, cinnamon, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until crumbly.
  • Cook pear mixture in skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes until soft.
  • Sprinkle oat topping over pears, reduce heat, cover, and cook for 15 minutes until golden.
  • Remove from heat, cool slightly, and serve warm with optional ice cream or caramel.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of lemon juice to the pears before cooking.
