Favorite Fig Bread Recipe

A delicious and moist fig bread infused with warm spices and crunchy walnuts, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1⅓ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp freshly ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground cardamom
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • ¼ tsp sea salt

Add-ins

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (or pecans)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh figs (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp softened butter (for greasing the pan)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350℉ (175℃).
  • Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Crush walnuts and fold in.
  • Whisk wet ingredients with chopped figs in a medium bowl. Combine with dry mixture.
  • Pour batter into a greased pan and bake for 45-60 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan. Cool completely before slicing.

Store in an airtight container for best freshness.
