Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 standard packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110 F / 43 C)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for topping)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted for brushing)

Instructions

  • Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit 5 minutes until frothy. Whisk in egg, salt, and melted butter.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth.
  • Let dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, for 1 hour until doubled. Punch down and knead in garlic and Parmesan.
  • Divide into 12 pieces, shape into balls, and place in a greased 9x13 inch dish. Let rise 30-40 minutes until puffy.
  • Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C). Brush rolls with melted butter, sprinkle with Parmesan and parsley if desired, then bake 17-20 minutes until golden.
  • Cool slightly and serve warm. Enjoy!
