A hearty and creamy dish combining tender ground beef, mushrooms, and sour cream served over fluffy rice.

Ingredients

Rice

  • 2 cups long grain white rice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium white onion (sliced)
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup salted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions 

  • Cook rice: rinse, combine with water, boil, simmer 15 mins, then fluff.
  • Sauté onion and mushrooms in olive oil until tender, about 7 mins. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook ground beef with salt and pepper until browned, drain excess fat.
  • Add butter and flour to beef, cook 2-3 mins. Stir in broth, Worcestershire, garlic, simmer until thickened.
  • Mix in sautéed vegetables, sour cream, and mustard. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve hot over cooked rice.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the sauce simmer longer to thicken.
