Decadent and rich hazelnut brownies with a chocolate-hazelnut frosting, perfect for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Hazelnuts

  • 1.75 cups skinned and roasted hazelnuts (divided)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder, optional
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 4 ounces Baker’s unsweetened chocolate
  • 1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon espresso powder, optional
  • 0.75 cup Nutella (see Notes)
  • 0.5 cup confectioners’ sugar

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9-inch pan with foil and spray.
  • Process 1¼ cups hazelnuts with sugar, then add eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, espresso, and flour; mix.
  • Melt butter and chocolate in microwave, stir until smooth.
  • Combine chocolate mixture with hazelnut mixture, pour into pan, and bake for 35 minutes.
  • Cool, then prepare frosting by melting chocolate chips with cream, adding butter, espresso, Nutella, and sugar; spread over cooled brownies.
  • Crush remaining hazelnuts, sprinkle on top, cut into portions, and serve.

Notes

For extra crunch, sprinkle more chopped hazelnuts on top before serving.
