A flavorful and easy-to-make spicy tuna rice bowl that combines fresh ingredients with a kick of heat, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Rice

  • 1.5 cups white rice (Nishiki medium grain preferred)

Tuna

  • 5 oz tuna (drained of all liquid)

Sauce

  • 2.5 tbsp mayonnaise (Kewpie preferred)
  • 2.5 tsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (distinct toasty aroma)
  • 0.75 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 tsp honey

Toppings

  • black sesame seeds
  • furikake
  • cucumber (sliced into 1/8-inch rounds)
  • nori
  • green onions (thinly sliced on a bias)

Instructions 

  • Cook the rice according to package instructions and let it cool slightly.
  • Mix mayonnaise, sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, and honey to make the spicy sauce.
  • Combine drained tuna with half of the spicy sauce.
  • Assemble the bowl by placing rice at the base, topped with spicy tuna, cucumber, nori, green onions, and sesame seeds. Sprinkle furikake over the top.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the sesame seeds before adding.
