Instructions
Combine warm milk and water, sprinkle yeast and sugar, then let sit until foamy (5–10 min).
Add honey and whole wheat flour to the yeast mixture; let sit for 10 min.
Melt butter, cool, then mix with salt. Add to the dough, then knead with additional flour until smooth.
Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled (about 1 hour), then shape into loaves and rise again for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), bake for 30–35 min, brush with butter, then cool before slicing.
