Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar or honey
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • 1.25 cups warm water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

For the topping:

  • 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp dried garlic
  • 1 tsp dried onion
  • 0.5 tsp coarse salt

Instructions 

  • Mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Add warm water and oil, then knead until smooth.
  • Divide dough into 8 pieces, shape into balls, and poke a hole in the center to form bagels.
  • Boil water with a pinch of salt, then briefly boil each bagel for 1-2 minutes.
  • Place bagels on a baking sheet, sprinkle with topping mixture, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes.
