  • 4 pieces firm pears (Bosc or Anjou) (peeled and sliced)
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (chilled and cubed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup cold water
  • 1 piece egg (beaten) (for egg wash)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare the pie crust with flour, salt, butter, vanilla, and water until dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough into a circle on a floured surface. Arrange sliced pears in the center.
  • Sprinkle ground cardamom and sugar over the pears. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling.
  • Brush the crust with beaten egg. Bake for 40 minutes until golden brown.
