This flavorful bread combines spicy jalapenos and sharp cheddar cheese for a delicious homemade treat, baked to perfection in a Dutch oven.

3 1/2cupsbread flour
1 1/2tspkosher salt
2cupsshredded cheddar cheese
1largejalapeno (diced)
2cupswarm water
2 1/4tspinstant yeast(1 standard .25oz packet)
1/3 - 1/2cupshredded cheddar
10round slicesjalapeno (or more, to taste)
Instructions
Mix flour, salt, 2 cups cheddar, and diced jalapenos in a bowl.
Combine warm water and yeast in a large bowl; add dry ingredients and stir until combined.
Fold dough 8-10 times, cover, and let rise 1 hour; repeat folding and rising for a second hour.
Preheat Dutch oven to 450°F (230°C) with lid on for 30 minutes; turn dough onto floured surface, shape into a ball, score, and add cheese and jalapenos.
Transfer dough to hot Dutch oven, cover, and bake 30 minutes; remove lid and bake 20 more minutes. Cool before slicing.
Notes
Ensure dough is high hydration; it will be looser than traditional bread dough.
