Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a separate large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until creamy. Mix in maple syrup, egg, and vanilla.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until combined. Chill dough if needed.
  • Shape dough into balls, roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture, and place on baking sheets. Flatten slightly.
  • Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool on wire racks.

Notes

For softer cookies, do not overbake. Store in an airtight container.
