Delight in these moist, flavorful muffins infused with maple and topped with crunchy streusel and toasted walnuts.

Ingredients

Toasted Walnuts

  • 1 ¼ cups walnuts, chopped

Maple Walnut Muffins

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs eggs
  • ¾ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tsp maple extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Streusel Topping

  • 10 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 5 tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup walnuts, toasted
  • ¼ tsp hazelnut extract

Maple Glaze

  • ½ cup icing sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp milk
  • ½ tbsp maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp maple extract

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Toast walnuts for 7-8 minutes, then cool.
  • Mix dry ingredients. Beat sugar and melted butter, then add eggs, maple syrup, milk, and extracts.
  • Alternate adding wet and dry ingredients; fold in 1 cup toasted walnuts. Fill muffin liners.
  • Prepare streusel topping and sprinkle over muffins. Bake at 400°F for 5 min, then reduce to 375°F and bake 16-17 min.
  • Mix glaze ingredients. Cool muffins completely, then drizzle glaze on top.

Notes

For best flavor, toast walnuts beforehand and ensure muffins are fully cooled before glazing.
