A moist and flavorful pear bread infused with cinnamon and nuts, perfect for a cozy treat or breakfast.

Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 ripe pears very ripe pears
  • 1/4 cup crema Mexicana (or sour cream)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecan or walnuts
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar in the raw (as needed)

Instructions 

  • Peel and chop pears, then mash until smooth.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8x8-inch pan.
  • Melt butter, then mix with mashed pears, crema, sugars, salt, egg, and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and cinnamon. Combine with pear mixture and fold in nuts.
  • Pour batter into pan, sprinkle with raw sugar, and bake for 35-40 minutes until set and golden.
  • Cool for 20 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with additional raw sugar before baking.
