A flavorful homemade bread combining onions, cheese, and yeast for a delicious treat.
Ingredients
Yeast and liquids

active dry yeast

lukewarm water

warm buttermilk

Instructions
Mix yeast, ginger, and 1 tsp sugar in water; let sit 5 min.
Add buttermilk, sugar, salt, and baking soda; mix well.
Stir in 3 cups flour until smooth, then add butter, onions, and cheese.
Gradually add remaining flour, knead until elastic, then let rise 1.5 hours.
Punch down, shape into loaves, let rise 45 min, then bake at 400°F for 30 min.
Notes
For a softer crust, cover the loaves after baking.
