A comforting rice pudding infused with warm spices, sweet maple syrup, and fresh pears, topped with candied pecans for crunch.
Ingredients
Rice and liquids
1cupJasmine rice((or similar long-grain white rice))
5cupswhole milk
1/3cupdark maple syrup
1/4cupdark brown sugar((packed))
1/2tspfine sea salt
2pearsUSA Pears Comice variety(1 chopped into bite-sized pieces, 1 thinly sliced for garnish)

as neededadditional maple syrup
Instructions
Combine rice and 4 cups of milk in a heavy-bottomed pot. Bring to a boil, add spices, then reduce heat, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.
Wash and core pears. Chop one pear into small pieces and thinly slice the other for garnish.
Uncover rice, stir, and cook for 10 minutes until thick. Add remaining milk, maple syrup, brown sugar, and salt; cook for 5 minutes until sugar dissolves. Strain out spices.
Stir in chopped pears, then serve topped with sliced pears, candied pecans, and a drizzle of maple syrup.
Notes
For extra flavor, toast the pecans before adding them as a topping.
