A delicious crunchy topping made with toasted pecans, brown sugar, and maple syrup, perfect for pies and crisps.

Ingredients

Nuts

  • 1 cup Pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 0.5 cup All-Purpose Flour (or unbleached)
  • 0.5 cup Light Brown Sugar, packed (or dark brown sugar for more intensity)
  • 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup, pure
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter, cold and cubed (or salted, reduce added salt)
  • 0.25 tsp Salt, fine sea salt
  • 0.5 tsp Ground Cinnamon, good quality

Instructions 

  • Toast pecans at 350F (175C) for 5-7 minutes, then cool and coarsely chop.
  • Mix flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
  • Add cold, cubed butter and cut into dry ingredients until coarse crumbs form.
  • Drizzle maple syrup over mixture and gently mix until clumps form.
  • Use as a topping for pies, crisps, or muffins for a crunchy finish.
