Skillet Maple Bourbon Cornbread Recipe

A deliciously moist and flavorful cornbread infused with maple syrup and bourbon, baked to perfection in a cast iron skillet.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (or vegetable/canola oil)
  • 1.75 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1 large egg

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8 or 9-inch cast iron skillet.
  • Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Whisk wet ingredients in another bowl.
  • Combine wet and dry mixtures, stirring just until moistened.
  • Pour batter into skillet and bake for 20 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Serve warm with butter and honey.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a touch of honey or serve with extra butter.
