A deliciously moist and flavorful cornbread infused with maple syrup and bourbon, baked to perfection in a cast iron skillet.
Ingredients
Dry ingredients

unbleached all-purpose flour

yellow cornmeal

Wet ingredients

buttermilk

pure maple syrup

melted butter (or vegetable/canola oil)

Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8 or 9-inch cast iron skillet.
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl. Whisk wet ingredients in another bowl.
Combine wet and dry mixtures, stirring just until moistened.
Pour batter into skillet and bake for 20 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Serve warm with butter and honey.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a touch of honey or serve with extra butter.
