Ingredients

Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted or Halal-friendly alternative)
  • 1 egg egg (optional) (for egg wash)

Toppings

Instructions 

  • Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Add warm water, melted butter, and egg (if using). Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, shape into buns, and place on a baking sheet. Optional: brush with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Ensure the dough is kneaded well for soft buns. You can freeze the baked buns for later use.
