Ingredients

Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110 F)
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • q.s. melted butter for brushing

Instructions 

  • Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Combine flour, salt, melted butter, eggs, garlic, parsley, thyme, and yeast mixture; stir until sticky dough forms.
  • Knead dough on floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1-2 hours until doubled.
  • Punch down, divide into portions, shape into balls, place in greased pan, and let rise briefly.
  • Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden. Brush with melted butter before serving.

Notes

For softer rolls, let them rise a bit longer before baking.
