These soft, honey-sweetened whole wheat dinner rolls are perfect for any meal. Easy to make and irresistibly fluffy, they bring warmth and comfort to your table.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 ½ - 4 ½ cups whole wheat flour (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm milk (about 105-110 F)
  • 6 tablespoons butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)

Instructions 

  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • Combine 2 cups of flour, yeast, honey, salt, warm milk, 6 tablespoons butter, and egg in a bowl. Mix until combined.
  • Add remaining flour gradually until the dough is smooth and slightly sticky. Knead for 2 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm spot for 30 minutes, then punch down and divide into 24 rolls. Place in prepared pan.
  • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden. Brush with melted butter before serving.

Notes

For softer rolls, let them rise in a warm, draft-free area.
