Ingredients

1.1lbsflank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
1tablespooncornstarch
1tablespoonvegetable oil
1/3cupsoy sauce
1/4cupmirin
2tablespoonshoney or brown sugar
2tablespoonsrice vinegar
2clovesgarlic, minced
1teaspoonfresh ginger, grated
1tablespooncornstarch mixed with water
1mediumcarrot, julienned
1redbell pepper, thinly sliced
5ouncesbroccoli florets
2spring onionssliced, plus extra for garnish
1tablespoonsesame seeds for garnish
2cupscooked white or brown rice
Instructions
Combine soy sauce, mirin, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger in a saucepan. Simmer and whisk in cornstarch slurry until thickened, then set aside.
Toss beef slices with cornstarch to coat evenly.
Stir-fry beef in hot oil until browned, then remove from skillet.
Stir-fry vegetables until tender-crisp, then combine with beef and sauce. Heat briefly.
Serve over rice, garnished with spring onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
For a healthier option, use less honey or brown sugar and opt for brown rice.
