Ingredients

Chocolate and Butter

  • 4 oz dark chocolate (50-70%)
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or caster)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk (discard whites)
  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (about 120 grams)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch pan with parchment or foil.
  • Melt chocolate and butter in a microwave or double boiler, then whisk until smooth.
  • Mix in sugar, vanilla, eggs, and egg yolk. Sift in flour, cocoa, salt; fold until just combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips, pour batter into pan, and smooth the surface.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, cool for 2 hours, then cut into squares.

Notes

For best results, do not overbake to keep brownies fudgy.
