Ingredients

Butter and Sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Eggs and Vanilla

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 vanilla bean vanilla bean, seeds scraped

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk for glaze
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a loaf pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then scrape vanilla seeds.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold dry ingredients into batter, alternating with milk.
  • Pour batter into pan, bake for 45 minutes, then cool completely.
  • Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cake.

Notes

Ensure not to overmix the batter for a tender crumb.
