Deliciously rich walnut brownies with a perfect chocolate and nut combination, easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Butter and Chocolate

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels (divided)

Sugar

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

Eggs and Extracts

  • 4 large large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

Walnuts

  • 1 ½ cup chopped walnuts (divided)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Melt butter and ½ cup of chocolate morsels over medium heat. Stir until smooth.
  • Whisk in eggs, one at a time, then add extracts.
  • Mix in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder just until combined. Fold in ½ cup of remaining chocolate and 1 cup of walnuts.
  • Pour batter into prepared dish. Top with remaining chocolate and walnuts. Bake for 42-45 minutes, then cool completely before cutting.

Notes

For extra flavor, toast the walnuts before folding into the batter.
