Enjoy homemade whole wheat bread with a hearty texture and natural sweetness, perfect for sandwiches or toast.
Ingredients
Dough

water

cup
milk

tablespoons
honey
2 ¼
teaspoons
active dry yeast (or instant yeast (1 packet))

whole wheat flour
((plus more as needed))
1 ½

salt

unsalted butter
(cut into 6 pieces and softened)
Instructions
Combine water and milk; warm to 105-115°F. Mix in honey and yeast; let foam for 5-10 mins.
Add flour, salt, and butter; mix until combined. Knead on low for 8 mins until slightly sticky.
Transfer dough to oiled bowl; cover and let rise until doubled (~1 hour).
Punch down dough; shape into a rectangle, roll up, and place seam side down in greased pan. Let rise until top is just above pan (~30-45 mins).
Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 35-45 mins until internal temp reaches 200°F. Cool before slicing.
Notes
For best results, use fresh yeast and measure ingredients accurately.
